Yesterday I decided to start feeding my Bees up for winter.
The weather is still mild here in the south so at present there is no hurry.
I found my BBKA card and took it along to my local Bookers wholesaler.
A quick conversation with the manager,
One form to complete, and that was it.
I was given a Temporary membership card and number.
and told my proper card will be in the post.
:)

So

Next I did the shopping.
25kg of sugar cost £13.99 a sack.
so I purchased two sacks
which workes out at 56p per kilo

Happily I then had a little look around the store,
paid for the sugar, and went home.

As I sat indoors enjoying a cold drink and checking the receipt I discovered an error.
I had only been charged for one bag!

So today I decided to pop back to the shop and pay for the other sack.
:angelsad2:

I asked to see the manager again,
explained what had happened,
and apologised.

He looked a little suprised to say the least,
and suggested I do my shopping whilst he sorted it out.

I decided to buy two more bags of sugar.
When I returned to the desk he prepared a new receipt
refunding me the money for the bag I paid for,
and then charging me for all four bags.

This is the best bit.....

He then gave me a managers discount of £5.99 off each sack :hurray:

So I now have 100 lb of sugar which cost me a total of just £32 :D

which works out at 32 pence per kilo

Hey Steve
that is really great
I am right with you on the honesty front
I can not lie I am absolutely hopeless at it

Similar thing happened to me and my wife a few years ago, we had paid for 2 weeks worth of shopping when it dawn on my wife the bag of toilet rolls hanging on the trolley hadn't been paid for. She took the bag of toilet rolls back in with the receipt and went up to the front desk to pay just as the manager walked over, as the lady behind the desk was already busy the manager asked if she could help.

Five minutes later my wife walked back to the car with a beaming smile on her face and said the 2 weeks worth of shopping bill had been credited back to our account for being honest as the store had caught 3 shop lifters that day and it was nice to have some honest customers.

As you said Steve its pays to be honest.
:hurray:

I use Bookers professionally on a weekly basis and they often get the bill wrong.

One time I examined my bill and found that one of the cardboard boxes containing my shopping had also been scanned as it was moved from one trolley to another trolley at the checkout. So I was charged for one outer of washing powder value £70 (6 x giant economy boxes) that did not exist.:toetap05:

Sorted out at the payment window but you do need to check your bill at Bookers.

Following my earlier experience with Bookers I went into winter with several sacks of sugar,
so havent needed to go back since my original purchase.
Today I received a letter from Bookers telling me that they had missed my custom.
The letter also included a voucher for £20 off when I spend £40 or more.
So tomorrow I am off to buy some more sugar.
:cheers2:

Similarly I received a letter and £20 voucher from BOOKER a few days ago, valid until 06 May.
I was going to go to buy sugar two weeks ago, but as I wasn't desperate I spent the money on plywood, with the intention of going sometime soon.
It's a very positive gesture and is certainly not lost upon me.
