I’m thinking of buying an extractor. I only have around 6 or so colonies. After a quick look on the net I spotted one at http://www.homcom.co.uk/stainless-steel-honey-etractor-manual-4-frame.html .

Any recommendations or feedbck?

I've just ordered one of these. I agree that a 9-frame motorised one would be ideal but they are SO expensive. This one looks great for £150, I've seen plastic 2-frame tabletop extractors for more than that on some of the 'specialist' suppliers websites.

I'll let you know how I get on :)

Let me know how you get on I'd be very interested in one if you think they are good value.

Personally, I *HATE* extracting, so anything to make it quicker, less messy and less tiring is money well spent. 9 frame motorised extractor helps. Got mine from the usual place when it was on offer.

i agree - price is a factor. I look formward to reading your feedback. Thanks.

It states that it takes 4 shallow or deep frames, national or Langstroth. not sure how looking at picture. 16cmx40cm, but nat deep, 21.something. OSB 18.2, thats why I was looking. Or am i missing something?

If you have no intention of having heather honey there is no point in buying a tangential extractor.

I don't like the gears inside the extractor, make your own its not that difficult

looking at the dents in the stainless steel looks like it could be very thin, low quality steel.

i see they sell the lovely national hives that also have the wonderful bamboo queen excluders.

I think i would give them a miss looks like everything is bought in very cheaply from the far east, may do one season and then rust or corrode badly.

looking at the inside it doesn't seem to be the same finish as the outside either?

Just looked at the pics. Almost unbelievable the rubbish those pics show?

Valve hanging down in the honey flow? Gears inside a food vessel look like metal, so lubricate or not. Lose, lose either way.

VEG is probably right as well.

DP leads me to think he may not be far off the mark

2 shiny reviews giving 5/5? I just don't believe them. I would not recommend it to a friend, that is for sure.
