Hi there,

I have one hive with a one month old colony, a nuc I purchased from a beekeeper in Lincoln through SBKA.

I purchased the budget hive and lots of other bits mostly through Thornes but also from SimonTheBeekeeper on Amazon. Both have been excellent suppliers.

I am keeping the hive on my allotment - lots of hoops to jump through to get permission for this but glad to have got the nod from everyone.

SBKA very supportive, offering excellent Saturday sessions at the local apiary.

I have a problem I will raise in the general forum which has brought me hear but wanted to do it all correctly and say hello here first.

Regards from sunny Sheffield!

Hi there and welcome.
I have a great soft spot for Sheff as I went to Uni there many years ago.
Happy beekeeping.

Hi Snecklifter!

Good to make your acquaintance!

Hope you enjoy the Forum - but I hope you enjoy beekeeping even more.

It's a great craft - if taxing on the nerves the first couple of years.

Thanks all, its incredibly exciting.

Dusty - I'm sure there is a story behind your picture but I'm scared to ask!

Hi there, welcome from sunny Barnsley, well actually it's pitch black now but hoping for some Yorkshire sunshine tomorrow. We're almost neighbours. :welcome:

Wecome from a Yorkshireman (Swinton & Mexborough born & bred) now exiled on the sunny (sometimes) South coast. Still come up to Sheffield as two of my children live there ... and they were Hampshire born & bred !!!

:sunning:snecklifter? Welcome, isn't there a beer named after you? lol

Hi Everyone

I started beekeeping with one hive three years ago, they multiplied quickly the first and second year last year I had 5 colonies which I was very pleased to get all 5 through last winter. This year they all started to built up very early and quickly became very strong, so I used Pagden and Demaree methods to control the swarming.

I might have overdone it a bit, because now I have 10 strong colonies (bees on 14 frames !), more hives than I ever wanted.. and more honey than I ever wanted (be careful what you wish for !)
:ohthedrama:
I know I have been told "this should not a problem", but if I feel it currently is.
