All my life I have never suffered from hayfever.

I have heard many people say that honey is good for hayfever. So for the last year I have been eating honey, and it works.

I now have hayfever...........

i have always suffered badly with tree pollen and rape hayfever. driving past a field of rape would send me into fits of sneezing and streaming eyes.

I am eating a couple of teaspoons of honey a day and now there is not a tickle.
I am eating honey primarily made from rape honey, so i know the honey for the time of year is right..

... of course it could be a placebo!

I haven't really tried the honey theory but, about 15 years ago, I worked as a landscape gardener. I was exposed to a great deal of pollen as you can imagine and had horrendous hayfever for that first summer. Then, for about 5 years afterwards my hayfever was virtually non existant. Then it slowly crept back.
Could be a total coincidence of course.

The theory with honey is it must have the pollen in it you are allergic to. So if you are allergic to grass pollen - tough.

Boots now sell a nasal spray called Pirinase which I have used for the first time this year and found it brilliant. It stopped my sniffles in their tracks, much better than any tablets.

It is not cheap at about £7.50 for a small bottle, but I found after trying the two squirts per nostril recommendation I could cut it down to one squirt - and at that rate it will last about a month.

Funnily enough I never had hayfever until I started beekeeping - I blame the bees!

I agree with RoofTops - the nasal sprays work well. I use Beconase.
BUT you have to use them everyday and preferably start a few weeks before the hayfever season. They are not effective if you just have a squirt when you start feeling sneezy.

Isn't that odd? I am finding the same sort of effect with headaches and gin!

Like it!
But isn't gin meant to be the best thing to drink if you want to aviod hangovers? Can't remember why.

try a couple of pints of strong mead.....:willy_nilly:

No hangover.................

you just wont know where you left your head.....
