i heard growling in a hive yesterday took it apart but there were no drones in the hive but could not find what it was as it stopped as i moved the third frame from the end
Do you think then it's vibration or another noise a queen could possibly make?

Colonies can make some strange noises, like the loud crackling coming from the supers I could hear from ten feet away.

It would be interesting to have a sticky maybe different hive sounds and forumites posting there recordings?

Stickies don’t work like that any more.
If there is a thread worth referring to, admin puts a link to it in the sticky index

Sorry, it’s the vet in me

A rumbling or gurgling noise made by the movement of fluid and gas in the intestines.

Can you tell me what that means save me looking it up
It's the sort of noise you get after 4 pints of Cider and a couple of cheap hamburgers with onions ... a sort of a warning of things to come ....

This has been mentioned a couple of times recently. No-one really knows what is making the noise or how. There are some YouTube videos out there with recordings.

Just heard the same growling/purring sound from one of my hives. Not pipping, but a loud slow purring-croak.
