Why wasn't it sellable?

Because it contained Genetically Modified pollen, it needs a special dispensation to sell it and it's not exactly a great marketing idea "get your honey here, now with GM pollen"

Here's a quote from another report - "As he took the view that the presence of residues of genetically modified maize made his products unsuitable for marketing and for consumption, Mr Bablok, the beekeeper, brought legal proceedings against Freistaat Bayern, the landowner, before the German courts, in which four other amateur beekeepers joined."

He won his case in the Bavarian Higher Administrative Court.

Just keep your eyes open for any GM crops near you.

The EU fixed that in 2014 when they defined pollen as a constituent of honey not an ingredient as that judge classed it. As long as there is less than 1% pollen in honey is doesn't matter if its GM pollen or not.

My A*rse

Time to move this thread into the cupboard under the stairs I think HM, just the thing to get my blood up before my sojourn in Africa :hurray::D

I disagree, Potentially it could mean less pesticides and fungicides. More flowers and more nectar. I think I understand the risks but who really does.
Surely this must be a better way forward, rather than continually looking for pesticides that will always do the same thing, Kill insects!! Thats obviously the dilemma here so i don't think we should dismiss it!!

I am not saying its they way to go but as far as i know theres no evidence of the results causing problems anywhere. Perhaps someone could show me the evidence, then i might have a different opinion. at the moment, Personally, I think its the better option!!

Do you have GM plants in UK?

It is sure that GM will not harm human beings. But if it affects, North America wil be full of sick people, or weeds or insects.... Or what ever.

Even if no GM plants are in Finland, beekeepers must sing in collectve chorus. but I do not. I will not ban my brains even if I am a beekeeper.

What GM plants you have in Britain?

If you eate soya products, you propably eate GM.

What about alcohol and tobacco? You are not afraid of them.

Not yet, would bother me if they did. In the EU they only use it on corps not going into the human food chain - it's all animal feed atm.

which is why it should be in the pesticides section

Into human food chain! How in heck? You do not even know what is GM.

How do you think that American people stay alive?

EU rules are mostly protective importing rules where they protect European production.
Same with Brasilian beef. Nothing wrong in it but EU protects own production.

Behind gm is the same sort of thinking that goes with pesticides, ie do you prevent weeds by coming in and killing them? Or do you create conditions that don't favour the weeds to begin with?

Thinking does not kill anybody.

Only which accumulates from GM plants to humans, it is fat. The disase is over weigh, and disases derived from that.

Are you sure? I almost bought some 'long life' cooking oil in a supermarket recently. The label said it came from GM crops.
