Indeed... a friend spent some years breeding a line of dark bees..... Black Ligurians when DNA testing was carried out... but of interest as they showed a definite tilt towards a negative discoidal shift!
The give away was that they produced masses of early brood and a ton of honey they devoured as soon as there was a dearth of forage!
