I asked an assistant about damaged packs of sugar in our local Sainsburys but she said it could only be dealt with by the manager.
The manager said he had to contact the head office.
He phoned me the next day and said they would only donate to a registered charity even though at present they didn't and it was 'disposed of'

The CO OP done me proud this week. One of our local branches has been sold to Morrisons and was closing down before the refit. I had a quick look round and noticed a big pile of their Bee Plan seeds, I asked if they were going cheap but got a bit of a run around in store till eventually told no they would tranfer them to another store.
So I e mailed customer services and asked if they had any left over as it was too late to plant them this year, told them I would buy them cheap or could they donate them, in the mail I told them I was a member of the BBKA and that I had half an acre that I wanted to put down as bee crop next year. I also offered to collect them.
I sent off the mail and then visited their Bee Plan site and clicked contact us and sent the same.
2 x jiffy bags later 250 packs of seeds and a compliments slip ! Great.
