Fondant suppliers

Would anyone advise me on some suppliers of fondant for beekeeper a and/or where you get yours from?

I understand you can make your own, but sometimes due to everything else it's often nice to buy somethings already made.

Not a cheap option but Bookers in Plymouth sell Bako or you can really shell out and go to NBS at Oakhampton if you fancy driving up country all the way to England!

You can get it on Amazon. My first year as a beek too so I'm interested in what people recommend.

I get mine from the local bakery, as I only use a box or two. Compared to pricing I see quoted on here from direct suppliers, it is more expensive, but much more convenient

Ask your local bakers - they will pay around a tenner (give or take a few pounds) for 12.5 Kg so they should be able to pass you on a slab for less than the bee suppliers. The prices they're charging on amazoon I'd expect them to turn up at the apiary and spoon feed it to the bees!!

I've only got the one hive so the price isn't so important to me. I know what you mean though.

Price is always important - what you don't use this winter will keep indefinitely in an airtight container.

Get mine from Bako, will be ordering late Sptember/October. Where in Cornwall are as I can add a box of two?

Next time you or a trustee are on the M5, drop by Bako in Cullompton (Devon). I get it from my local at £15 per 12.5 kg box (no haggling as I was just experimenting). So much better than mixing worth the fairly high price on basis it is not main element of feeding.

As a club our chairman places regular orders with Brake Brothers. I believe he orders £100 worth at a time. They deliver to his house and we collect. It works out at about a £1 per kilogram give or take a few pence. I normally buy 4 lumps at a time and it does not take long to get orders for 10 boxes. Co-operation is good for everyone

Just bought a pallet load of 80 boxes, 12.5kg boxes, Bako fondant for £5.50 per box.

That's an outstanding price. Buy as much as you can get. Prices are taking a sharp upward hike on fondant and syrup at the end of September.

5.50 for 12.5Kg of fondant.......that's 44p per kilo (c 53.7p dry weight). That's less than I pay for syrup delivered in tanker loads this year. All products going up £60 a tonne end of next week.

Current rate for bulk invert syrup is £520/tonne delivered home so c 72p/kg dry weight. Going to 580 on 1st October. Includes delivery to Scotland so you southern guys could be getting it for less.

By any measure, bar loss leader pricing in retail bags, you are getting an amazing deal.
