- Fine Oxalic Acid powder sprinkled into the hive at ambient temperature.
Yes but the point was the temp needed to reach dangerous levels, which is not necessary to fog.
And I found it interesting : )
fog machine, fog generator, or smoke machine is a device that emits a dense vapor that appears similar to fog or smoke. This artificial fog is most commonly used in professional entertainment applications, but smaller, more affordable fog machines are becoming common for personal use. Fog machines can also be found in use in a variety of industrial, training, and some military applications. Typically, fog is created by vaporizing proprietary water and glycol-based or glycerin-based fluids or through the atomization of mineral oil

Do not FOG you bees with Glycerol.. or mineral oils...... QED
Icing sugar and OA ( can be bought in expensive little packets... just needs more sugar???) dusted over bees seems to knock down Varroa... as does Rhubarb leaf.
Nos da
The deposition crystals of Oxalic acid are microscopically small and coat all the surfaces the sublimated vapour comes into contact with. Probably very difficult to grind OA to that size. Although if you could and the bees could spread it around you might be onto a winner.
It's thought that the mode of action of OA in solution is different to that of the vaped crystals. And to complicate things the mode when dissolved in glycerin (as in towels and strips) may be different again.
The important bit is that it kills varroa.
I have a mortar & pestle, so getting a fine powder won't be difficult for a small quantity, Obviously not as microscopically small as sublimation will produce, but will be smaller than the crystals in a home made dribble solution.
The next time I'll give it a go and see what results I get.

i would be cautious about grinding oxalic crystals into a fine powder ,you might inhale then ingest i wouldnt take the risk , best to just vape at least you can see the vape and stand up wind
