Brambles almost finished here, bees are on lavender, wild flowers ,garden flowers and whatever the shrub is with little pink flowers on it by the busway (bees are all over that).... Is it normal to stop and look at plants to see if your bees are on them (my daughter even spotted one on the plants for sale outside the shop up the road)?

Yes it is normal. Its even better if you get yourself a camera and then you can call itbee photography :)

It is normal but people do stare at you for doing it. Especially if you start peering up trees as well.

Bramble well and truly over here, clover and rosebay coming to an end but still probably a good week left yet.Balsam in full flower now and thats what the bees are working mainly,it's been a very drying few days here with strong sunshine and a keen breeze so a little rain wouldn't go amiss..:sunning:

If you stand there long enough other people will join you.. to take the performance to the next level you will need to point...

I heard someone mumble 'weirdo' once while I was stood watching my bees work all the plum blossom along a path near me. Living life with your eyes firmly closed is what I find weird

'All the world is queer save thee and me, and even thou art a little queer'.

The social reformer Robert Owen (1771-1858) is supposed to have said this in 1828 to his business partner William Allen. They had both been involved in setting up the model industrial community New Lanark, but increasing friction between the two led to Owen pulling out of the concern.

Clover oregano and privet are the main source by me at the moment

Can't keep up here - added our last supers today - and wondering whether to buy more...

What a difference a bit of rain makes. Last week bees bored with local forage all burnt up. Good soaking at weekend and good sprinkling of fresh blackberry out in flower in North Bucks which they are making full use of. Needing to add supers again. The good year continues....
