Not an official term in genetics, but often used in reference to the founder, or parental, generation in a line of captive-bred organisms.

Makes logical sense (to me) and more interested in the actual results. Rather than hanging on the terminology look at how the genetics are diluted down the chain 0/1/2/3 etc vs the results of your breeding.
 
Thanks to all who wrote on F0 etc. I've read a bit on the topic now and will probably write something for my BKA newsletter - not that they're interested, but it's good for me to write it out.
