EFB in North Leeds

Just had an email from my association warning that EFB has been found in the North Leeds area. (the Leeds in Yorkshire)

I just told which work. Get such bee genepool which is immune to EFB.

According to BeeBase its in Pool, which I presume is Wharfedale area

The thing is due to legal requirements we can not do as we please.
if EFB or AFB is found it has to be reported.
the colony has to be transferred to clean combs/frames and the old ones burned before anything else is done

It 's a village about five miles north of me. Full name, Pool in Wharfedale. My bee buddy lives there, but we've no colonies there.
I knew there was at least one beekeeper in the area. My buddy had some unused kit in his car port, and came home one evening last summer to find a swarm had moved in.

For a man with your claimed education it seems YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND there is a legal requirement to report incidences in the UK and follow the bee inspectors instructions to control the outbreak.
Your opinions, based on non UK practices are thus irrelevant.

It appears the EFB is in Yeadon, which is within SE24, and indeed a bigger place than Pool, but the allocated name for the square is Pool.

I dont know if this needs its own thread or not but I've received this from my local association

American Foul Brood has been found in the Charlestown area of Baildon. This is currently being dealt with by the Bee Inspector and all colonies are being destroyed. All our members within 3km of the area have been informed and will be inspected in due course. Could you please pass this information to your members and if anybody knows of any beekeepers, particularly who are in the surrounding area, who are not on BeeBase to inform the Bee Inspector.

On a positive note, this has been detected early in the season and hopefully the cold weather will have prevented it from spreading further.

American Foul Brood has been found in the Charlestown area of Baildon.

That's sad, I hope it's contained.
