....just use fondant throughout the year instead of syrup? I've heard that some of the commercial guys do.

If so, is it possible to 'thymolise' the fondant ahead of application?

Yes you can use fondant and nothing else throughout the year as needed.
Used it for years and no syrup at all,the down side was the lack of thymol.

I have not yet found a way,or really tried,to thymolise the commercial bought in fondant, but if making your own small amounts of fondant it is easy, but do it in a well ventilated place.

A non-stick mangle comes to mind as one option.

An alternative might be mixing at highish temperatures when the fondant would be 'kneadable'.

As hivemaker says, smelly job!

Commercial fondant isn't kneeded, but stirred and poured into the bag/box.

The problem with adding thymol in the final stirring before pouring or kneeding if you need it :)
is that a lot of the thymol would be lost to the atmosphere.

Perhaps a syringe and hypodermic needle delivering multiple streams of thymol tincture to prepared fondant might be an answer, but it doesn't mix and so might be a bit like feeding a thymol version of rasperry ripple ice cream?

Anyone played with the concept and have any thoughts or guidance?

i am going to try only fondant feeding next year following hm advice, but normal program of varoa treatments

Did anyone ever try putting thymol into OSR honey (to feed back to bees) would this work?

Yes it would work fine, but would be much harder than fondant, but then so does sugar syrup work fine, and harvesting and selling the honey is a better idea....sugar is cheap.

I'm up for thymol treatment only in the New year , no oxalic acid but formic if required AKA hive maker !
