No it isn't. Roofs have vents and crown or cover boards have holes. Two different pieces of equipment with two different orifices.

Roofs shouldn't have vents either - unless your foolish enough to believe you need a gaping hole in the crown board to facilitate a chimney effect (as actually recommended in last month's BBKA comic)

I like it you called it a comic book :icon_204-2:

But he still reads it! I'm sure the editor would gladly accept an article from him and then we could all consider and comment on its merits. One thing almost certain in beekeeping is whatever your view or method you use, someone somewhere will always find something they don't agree with. I remember great arguments in the past over warm and cold ways, top or bottom space hives, single or double broods, National V WBC, which subspecies is best etc etc. And they have been arguing about ventilation for an awfully long time and on this forum they still do.

I prof read it but will always do my own thing, every one is different thankfully it would be a boring world if we all followed the mass .

Exactly.
The beauty of beekeeping is we can all keep bees of different abilities to suit what want to achieve. Whether that be native bees, bees bred for high honey yields, bees bred for VSH, docile bees, high pollen gatherers, high propolis collectors etc etc and not forgetting collections of different strains of bees.

Talking of propolis and brase comb I put fondant on the garden hives 2 kgs each , one colony have started to build brase comb round the fondant and build upwards it's now tutching the crown board this is a reversible perspex crown board the fondant has only been on for a week little blitters.
There's loads of space in the boxes that I can see.
