I have tried making some candles - it did not go well :blush5:

I thought I'd keep it simple so I used some tea-light cases with pre-waxed wicks. It seems that the beeswax melts quicker than paraffin wax and the wick floods. Anyway, whatever the cause once lit they soon just go to a tiny flame and then go out.

So any advice please?

Ta.

Were the wicks sized for beeswax? Beeswax candles need a larger wick than the equivalent sized paraffin candle. It sounds if the wick is too small, given the "tiny flame".

(I've tried several different size wicks for tealights and found that even the best burners "drown" before the wax is used up).

Ah thanks - that confirms what I'd suspected. The wicks were almost certainly for paraffin wax. I'll have a look on bee suppliers websites for candle making kit. The stuff I bought came from a local shop rather than a specialist bee supplier.

I use 4candles too. The pre-waxed with beeswax for tea lights is what you need. I've always got away with their 26 size but this year had to make my own with a thicker wick.this years wax must be different in character somehow. It's very easy though. You have to have a trial burn.
