Afternoon all! Before I get blown into a hedge by the wind on my dog walk, a question for you. Does anyone have a recommendation for a website/youtube channel et al where I could learn about candle making? I’ve a large box of wax and fancy something to do whilst the bees are quietly sheltering from the winter weather. Thanks. 🙏

Nothing springs to mind apart from asking questions here and having a go. Working out the right wick size is important.

There are a few useful threads on here about candle making:

And probably more ... at least this gives you a start and some ideas.. There are also loads of videos in Youtube about candle making - they tend not to be beeswax but the principles are largely the same.

I wanted to make some candles but the molds were so expensive I couldn't justify the outlay. In the end I made dipped candles that came out pretty well and sold very well at the Christmas markets. Lots of vids on youtube.

thank you so much. That gives me plenty to mull over when the sun has gone down.

Thank you! I found a couple of rather good YouTube videos and despite making a huuuuge amount of mess in my kitchen have made my first ever 14 candles and am feeling rather proud! Next time I need to glam them up I think.

Photo ?🙂

Mine cracked at the wick and gapped at the side, but I kept aside some wax and once they had cooled filled them up and it seemed to work. I haven't burned any yet, but did give a couple to friends. Hopefully they didn't explode or anything! o_O

😂 always a good idea to test them I’ve used the wrong wick size before now and the flame was almost bigger than the candles a bit of a fire risk .

Youtube video's are great. I also would recommend Beeswax Workshop: How to Make Your Own Natural Candles, Cosmetics, Cleaners, Soaps, Healing Balms and more authored by Christine Dalziel. So many options for Beeswax besides candles.

Hi. I found this one quite useful. It assumes you start with clean wax already processed...
