Sadly, for those have missed the news this morning. Bill Turnbull - TV celebrity and (by his own admission) a very bad beekeeper, died early today following a fight with advanced prostate cancer for the last five years.

RIP Bill ... I hope they have told your bees.

That is sad, I watched the Bake Off Stand Up to Cancer episode where he talked about his cancer, very moving! I also have his book which is very amusing, RiP

I bought his book when I starting beekeeping and it really amused me. I’m sad that he finally lost his battle with the disease.

Came up in my newsfeed today. Just in case nobody with Bill thought to tell his bees I told mine and they will pass it on.

Very sad news, especially at such a young age. Seemed a genuinely very nice man (of course - he was a beekeeper!). Unfortunately being a good guy always seems a bad prognostic sign, the nasty ones always seem to do well!
The tradition of "telling the bees" is something I only heard of a couple of years ago, but once you've heard of it......
