In the York area there was a problem with waste from a chocolate factory.
In Halifax, a farmer was using waste from a plant making medicated sweets to mix with his cattle feed. The bees found the stack and the honey was unsaleable.
In the US, bees found that the red waste from a marachino plant was to their liking. Red honey ??
Years ago, the finger was pointed at a honey blending plant where empty imported honey drums gave access to bees and there was an outbreak of a bee disease.
In Brazil, hives were lost when locals used a cockroach bait containing a broad-spectrum insecticide.
