I don't believe it to be a water problem by the way they are harassing us away from the green house.. when I say they have a pond it's basically a woodland pond/marsh with more than enough drinking spot's.. thank you for the input though..

I had a hive in the garden a few years back that developed a very large defensive perimeter, approx 50 yds plus in the ealry autumn. Couldn't go out of the house, do any gardening etc without getting bothered. They even attacked the postie at the other side of the house.
Solution was to move the hive to another apiary until the following year when they got de-queened.
