Hi, my first hives, Rose hives, will arrive in a month...bought “beekeeping for dummies”..lots of useful information.....but....I don’t find its layout the most useful and find myself going backwards and forwards and full of post it notes.
Is there one book that is the “bible”?....Hooper seems to be the most recommended.......

No such beast, all have strengths and weakness's. As Br. Adam famously said "Let the Bees tell you".
Too many small micro-climates means general advice can be meaningless as "your" apiary site is unique and this will affect how you manage your bees.
For example over wintering advice given by beekeepers living on the south coast of England has little practical value when applied to to a beekeeper with hives on the fringes of the North Yorkshire moors.
The secret is work out what you have.

Haynes for beginners. Hooper as a good reference. Is there not a book specific to Rose Hives? THe Rose hive method or something? someone will know.
I agree with bee friendly my beekeeping book shelf grows every year

Rose Hive Method is a useful book and there are YouTube videos on managing Rose hives.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies... I have the Rose Hive book and have ordered the Haynes manual as well as a guide to bees and honey by Ted Hooper.

Be very wary of youtube vids as not that many are applicable to the UK.

Just a heads up.

Some YouTube videos are OK. Others are downright awful or plain wrong!
