We did a hive inspection on Monday and noticed that when the SO did the hive inspection on her own the last time two weeks ago, she didn't quite push a few of the frames back together, 2 of the frames ended up about 8mm further apart than normal (evident by the propolis shadow), they are Hoffman self spacing 12" x 14". and when we came to put the frames back before closing up we noticed that we could not get the frames to touch, the combe was touching first! so we had a look and the bees have extended the Honey cells at the top and sides to fill up the extra gap that was there (hope we didn't squish the queen), we still only have 8 frames in with a dummy board so wanted to know the best way to get the bees to sort out our mistake.
My only idea was to put 2 half drawn empty frames from the outside in between the 2 that have the gap issue and let the bees sort it. or is there a better way to solve this?
