Anybody watch Dragon's Den? It would be easier to mix a load of sugar in a bucket and have open feeding. I am certainly not advocaring this due to the spread of disease as we have discussed many times on here. Any comments? The folk asking for the money don't seem to have thought about the implications outlined above. Phew - just watched the last Dragon opt out of giving cash. Seems they want to slosh syrup round the USA.

I just caught the end of this. What were they planning to do? All I could see was bee hotels.

We've seen the thing they are selling on here before ...

https://beevive.com/collections/bee-revival-kits

You can scoff as much as you like - they've had sales of over a million quid and now have a dragon to help them sell into the US market ... wish I'd thought about it. Not that I think it's a sensible idea but I regularly get phone calls and questions at work from people who have found a bee that 'needs help' and want to assist it. I tell them to give it a drop of sugar water ...

These clever people have made that into a marketing opportunity... I don't think they will sell many to beekeepers but there is a lot of bee loving people outside of the beekeeping community.

there's always a mug around the corner waiting to be gulled
Basic marketing - find a product that makes people feel good about themselves and all their reason is cast to the wind !

I worked in the fragrance industry in sales and marketing for 10 years ... we sold smelly water to the masses ... first thing we told new salesmen ... sell the sizzle not the sausage !

Ah. Thats who they are

many would call it basic lack of morality
find a mug and cash in on them
Well ...I would suggest that it's only exploitative if the buyer cannot afford to buy it and is coerced into the purchase. If you apply that level of morality to the great unwashed then they would be legally banned from drinking anything other than water, would be legally prevented from buying tobacco and the wearing of state provided clothing (basic state uniform) would be mandatory.

People are free in this country to spend their money how they see fit, even if it is an ill advised purchase, most non-essential purchases are made on the basis that it makes the buyer feel good - heart not head.

I also caught the end of it. Saw some bee hotels, said something overly cynical, then saw whatsherface say she was in, but not taking a %, because it was "saving the bees".

Bee revival kits? Someone bought me one the Xmas before last. I suspect it's long gone in the bin.

It's a novelty, feelgood but ultimately useless item.

Bees are dying due to use of pesticides, artificial fertilisers and climate change, not a lack of access to emergency sugar syrup.
