On Radio Cornwall news at 6.00am this morning...... going to write in and ask Pam to make some special Christmas puddings for the ducks and chickens to play with!

Hope that the fully enclosed cages and electric fences are enough to keep infected wild birds out... although the wrens, tits, robins and other little birds seem to go in and out unhindered...
.... yet another Asian virus that man seems to be spreading by uncontrolled moving of animals and plants around the Earth?

As an EX free range egg producer we are very happy not to be in business now.

If we didn't open the pop-holes on time we would have birds literally climbing the wall and attacking each other. Chickens have a set pattern to their day and any change causes issues. I feel sorry for the current producers because production will go down and mortality will go up, but don't wait for that to reflected in the price you pay for eggs. Just wait for banks calling in loans.

:sorry: Given the German discounters driving down egg prices below cost price we have a few friends that are going out of business and Avian Flu is just the icing on top.
