Yes I've been wondering about this too - not exactly subliming then is it? Tho it does seem to go on and produce the fumes... and then I've seen powdery deposit below afterwards.
Most oxalic acid is oxalic acid dihydrate. Each oxalic acid molecule has two water molecules. As it is heated the water boils off, hence it becomes liquid, and then the OA sublimates, releasing the vapour.
My vaping setup was intended to be similar to yours but on initial use, the vapouriser burned a large brown mark in the middle of the monitoring board.

I don't care about any stage as long as the gassing pan is empty after 3mins maximum- Thanks to those with reassurance about there being a liquid stage. Yes, mine is a passive vaporiser.
