Spent the winter doing the New Forest & District Beekeepers Assoc course, built two hives and waited and waited! Never watched the weather forecast so closely or with such utter frustration!

Last night about 8.30 they walked into their new home! Like the Pied Piper of Hamlyn they walked up the slope and into the hive.

Nobody told me they came ready trained!!

Hopefully the ladies will appreciate the new residence more than the one they swarmed from!

Now officially a beekeeper (unless they abscond!) so time to introduce myself!

Bob Russell, middle of the New Forest. A National hive (occupied) and a WBC yet to be filled!

Welcome to the slightly insane world of beekeeping. :welcome:

Now officially a beekeeper (unless they abscond!) so time to introduce myself!

Now the real work begins, but I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

Feed the swarm after a couple of days using 1:1 sugar:water syrup.

Welcome, if the hive is in good working condition, has no known history of bee diseases, and has a reliable food source within a decent distance they will probably be more than happy staying.

Good time to start, the sycamore are just bursting into flower.
