The temperature in Essex has rapidly dropped in the last few days. Hopefully will cause problems for any invasive visitors.
 
It’s unfortunate that it’s got that size before being spotted.
Would the queens for next year already be leaving? Do we know if the three hornets found were queens?

Hopefully queens haven’t been released but I’m sure the PM will tell us.
Maybe if they managed to track the flying hornets back to the nest they were indeed workers?

it's been the story so far - every nest found since the first one seems to struggle to produce sexuals, they struggle to build up a secondary colony and by then it's too late to produce queens for the next season
