Asian Hornet

I had an email yesterday from the National Bee Unit to say that a credible sighting of an Asian Hornet had been reported near Maidstone in Kent; they've sent a Bee Inspector to investigate further but it has not been confirmed as correct yet. Lets all hope it turns out to be a mistake and that it's not arrived here yet but in the been time please all beekeepers in the South East be vigilant.

With the frequent southerly wind you have had over the past couple of months I am surprised they have not been sighted sooner. I this sighting proves spurious it will happen sooner rather than later IMHO.
