Nothing more - no new sightings and a horde of SBI's on standby to go down there if the NBU think it worthwhile

Your last post left me a little confused. Has there been more than one verified sighting in Mendip or has there only been one sighting (in spring) which has only just recently been reported.

Just the one - from the spring but only just reported it seems.

Just wanted to say thanks to Karol for his detailed answers to my queries

You are always very welcome. I apologise if I sometimes come over a little too assertively. I'm afraid that's down to my rather direct Polish heritage and despite being born here I still haven't mastered the art of nuanced English.

Why the Question. ? .

If they don't communicate then there wouldn't be a need for high efficiency traps. Those traps that allow wasps to feed and then go back and tell more wasps are useless - unless you want more wasps visiting.

I would like to say thanks too for the update on how bad it can possibly get with Asian hornet stings. I will not chase them with the hoover as I do with wasps! If you want to use nuanced English just say 'with all due respect'. That should do it.

All this nuanced English is now doing my head in. MasterBK - when I said you are always welcome I did actually mean just that and I hope you didn't take it any other way!

This has got to me so much that I've just had a counselling session with my better half who's native. She's advised me to preface everything I write with WIWIWIM.

Nuanced English?
Try that on a Yorkshireman
Sometimes I think my husband and I are on a different planet with no translation gizmo

If he's anything like this exiled Yorkshireman he probably feels he IS on another planet at times ... we don't do subtle !

Some of us live in hope some Yorkshire people will emigrate to another planet.. starting with Geoffrey Boycott...:serenade:.

Well apparently the hornet 'sighting' in the medips came to nothing and no more sightings of hornets/nests in Tetbury, NBU are scaling down operations and the SBI's on standby have been stood down.
