Ants

I'm in the middle of trying to build up a nuc,and I'm using one of those oblong type feeders that fit in a nuc lid,problem is since using it the hive has been over run with ants,they not inside the hive,they geting in under the roof.
the nuc is sat on a four legged hive stand.

last year I had a very angry colony due to red ants.

I painted the bottom of the legs with concrete sealer and then put on a stripe of burglar paint. it remains greasy and prevents ants climbing up the legs.

I still get the odd earwig, but i think they drop out of the trees...,
