Looks very nice have you any idea what the forage for the bees will be perhaps the back of your garden at a push as you are close

The Allotment will provide some,
as will the local gardens.
There are fields with various crops planted nearby
but as yet I dont know what these are.
I am popping back to look at the site around mid day, and chat to some of the Allotment keepers

you can get a lot of information from google earth, gardens, golf courses, rivers ect either way it looks a good site and the bees will just get on with it regardless good look now you just need plan B the 2nd site

Toms is right about forrage but the prospects are good. Which ever way I would put welcoming neighbours high on the list! Looks like you have a good find there.

Just been for a chat with some of the allotment holders.
Seems the previous Bee keeper left the site three years ago,
and since then the site has become a dumping area for weeds etc,
hence the mess, and the pathway.
I was told he gave up the site because when he started the council insisted
that to have Bees on the allotments he also needed to be an allotment holder.
However whilst his interest in Bees was a positive one
he didnt have an interest in the physical side of gardening.
Eventually his allotment became too much for him so he gave it up
along with his membership.
This meant he had to move the Bees off the site.
There are only about 50 allotments on the site,
and so far I have spoken with 4 of the allotment holders.
Who have all been very positive about having Bees there so far.
So it looks like my first hurdle will be the local council. :boxing_smiley:

I shall keep you updated

Hopefully the council's attitude to bees and allotment holders will have changed over the last few years.

Ian

I spoke to the man from the council today.
It seems that their attitude has changed somewhat over the past few years.
The man I spoke to said that they would love to have Bees on the Allotments
and has arranged to meet me there next week.
