Alcohol wash?

I don't understand why you would do an alcohol wash after treating? If you monitor the drop with apiguard surely you'd see low numbers after the treatment?
The pharmaceutical companies will tell us that their treatments work but do they and how well. I've used ApiLife Var across the apiary twice before and have had to treat again. So I'm a little dubious about thymol treatments. My theory is that the biggest colonies clear the Apiguard quickly and reduce the overall effectiveness. But that's from a sample of one.
You have to do your own testing.
Sorry, misled you above, checked my notes and on this one colony I measured a daily drop of 35 varroa after the Apiguard, sampled twice over a period of 3-4 days each time. Surprised me.
