I had one hive a few years back that had a thing about smoke, one puff from the smoker and they would go mad if I used a water spray they were no problem. Just goes to show not all bees follow whats written in the bee books.

Interesting Philip.

On nature v's nurture, I couldn't see the problem with the feeding lasting too long, one reason being the death rate of the bees.

I have found sometimes it is just a few bees (perhaps old grumpy guard bees) that are a problem, but it makes the whole colony seem worse. Last year I killed those couple of bees after they repeatedly charged out from the entrance and into the visor. No problem after that for months.....so far.

It sounds like you know it all and need no help from me. Good Luck

So the man asks a genuine question, trying to add to his knowledge, or maybe dispel a myth he's been told and he's a know it all!
Or is it he just hasn't asked the questions you want to hear?
Seems like the last thing he needs is 'help' from you

Errr . .. . moving on . . . .

Thankful for a chance to talk bees and get advice. We're all getting something out of this interaction and overall the bees are benefitting.
Before I piss too many people off sounding preachy I'll shut up on this thread.

. . . . Ben

I didn't notice you in the pulpit, Ben.

It looked to me like it was you who were getting the sermon ;)
