Hi All,

My Honey Directory is now officially open for submissions:

It's free to add your details and you don't need to have a web address to add yourself. People can either call you direct or use the enquiry form which sends their enquiry to your email address, but without it being publicly displayed (i.e. it won't be harvested by spam bots and result in junk emails).

The site will start appearing high up in search results pretty soon (because that's what I do for a living) so should get plenty of traffic. The idea is that people looking for local honey can easily find local suppliers.

When I asked for feedback before, I had a few comments about the logo, so have made it a little more conservative now (i.e. covered her legs up a bit!)

So feel free to start adding your details.

Cheers,
Steve

The logo is...awful. As is the background I'm afraid. Or is on a mac.

Excellent that you know how to creep up the rankings but a slick look is also important.

Blunt, but meant well :)

In what respect? I only use PC's but it all looks fine on those and on various browsers

Hivemaker - Why have you removed the link? It's not a commercial site and that makes it impossible for anyone to find it?

The site has sections leading to the web sites of commercial suppliers.

They aren't paid sponsors or anything, just relevant sites, a bit like the directory on this forum. Virtually any site links out to other websites, it's just the way the "web" works.

I just thought I'd do people a favour and offer something for free! The other members obviously appreciate it as I had 2 submissions in the short time it was there.

What's the address?

Apart from the obvious use of a sexist logo that looks like it comes from a cheap cartoon with a matching background.

Blunt, but how it looks from here. Can't imagine what it was like before!

If it's the one I just 'googled' then it looks fine to me. What's the problem? Hardly advertising and I have brought to the Forums moderators attention more obvious infractions! The other option is to start a section covering the same thing on here as long as it's not commercial.

So there's actually nothing wrong with it on a mac, it's just your personal preference in design elements. I wouldn't consider it sexist, it's just a cute looking queen bee.

Anyway I'm not going to argue about it, my site my choice, if people don't like it don't add your details, it's that simple!

Jeeees, try doing something helpful and it don't half bite you on the bum!

Just in case anyone wants to try to find it, just Google -*************

Steve
You might be better putting a hive as your logo rather then a minx of a queen she got nice legs tho lol

Nice site tho

I have put a link to your website on our local Facebook page and also a UK Facebook page for beekeeping.

Its not for me because I don't sell my honey but its a good idea.

I do however agree with some of the comments about the logo. I don't see it as sexist at all but just not very relevant - soz. However its your site to do with as you like so good luck.

Thanks for the Facebook links TK.

I never thought the logo would be quite so controversial, although I must admit that I quite like it. This reminds me of the reaction I got at the local club when I started buying poly hives

I like the logo :)

but can see why others disagree.

Good site though and thanks for doing it.

Found the site, cannot see a problem with having a link to it but saying that its not hard to find. Good idea Steve .... Like the Logo :)

Dear Mark
I know you have put thousands of hours into gaining a membership of around 9000 members over the last few years and I was just thinking,What if I bang a site up in 5 minutes and ask all your members to go and have a look ?

I know you would leak search engine ranking to me as the site is topic linked but....

The op occupation is SEO,I think he knows where I am coming from.
