I'm used to threads going :offtopic: but I've not got a clue what a dance troupe has to do with electric load ;)

Joking aside, I take your point that it's unlikely in my example that all four rings and the oven will be going full blast. I wonder how hot some domestic wiring gets on Christmas Day?
From my previous job I've seen a fair bit of damage due to domestic fires caused by electrics and so I'm always on the careful side.

Talking to one of the YEB guys many years ago he said they went round Goole before Christmas swapping distribution fuses with solid links. After Christmas they swapped them back. Even then most of the cooking and heating in the town was done using coal gas.
I had to follow up and report on a fire in a house in Doncaster which the fire officer said was a faulty storage heater. Stripped down the heavily charred unit which was burnt and blistered on the outside of the case. Inside it was pristine with no damage whatsoever, even the overheat link was intact. The unit had been IN a fire but not ON fire. I wonder how many more fires are wrongly blamed on electrical equipment?

I also have a 1.5 meter version and it does the trick but BLOODY HELL it gets HOT!

1.5 meter version........respect!
I'm beginning to realise the wisdom in buying the insulated version, the outside is cool when inside is at 80C.

Some of those posh ovens and hobs can be 7000w or more. Nothing to stop you wiring it into a 1.5mm t&e and watch your house burn down :winner1st:
True but electric cookers and electric showers are sold without a power cable what you do after you buy one is your choice, however if you buy the Melliflow mentioned above it should come with the correct cable of the correct length that will not heat up and melt.

I'm not talking about the cable that runs from the appliance to the socket/switch but the circuit itself. You could have 10mm to the switch but if the ring circuit isn't up to scratch you could be asking for trouble.

Possible to add your own external insulation like a hot water cylinder jacket?

Keeps the supers warm for extraction if nothing else!
