Not been a good year here either for VQ's to get sorted but it's roundabouts and swings, last year was very good and in the long term it averages out.

I had a virgin take 7 weeks to lay this year, only to be superseded 2 or 3 weeks after she started......new virgin pops out tomorrow or the day after. Hopefully. Fingers crossed with this one!

....when I was young..ish I had a virgin that took seven weeks.....ummmmm but it was worth it!:)

So a very good one after she started to lay?

I don't think TBRNoTB meant laying eggs by his comment on worth it ;)

I will refer back to my notes when I get home but I had a colony that I split in late May , the 25th I think . It had a sealed cell and was on 14 x 12 frames .
I knew it was queen right by its general demeanour and thought it only a matter of time before she started to lay . It was only last week that I had my first sealed brood in there , so about 8 wks .
To say its been a funny old yr does'nt do it justice really . I have had one colony with last yrs queen in it have a brood break of over a month . Lots of second and third yr keepers panicking a little and saying they were queen less too this season .
2013 will be better .
