Did an AS on Monday night, moved 22 super frames of brood (not all of them have wall to wall brood)to a new box next to original, left queen and frame of brood in old hive.......checked today and queen still there with eggs etc. (colony is in super frames as over wintered swarm and just can't yet get them onto 14 x 12 frames)
Checked through box with most brood, plenty of emerging brood and bees backfilling, don't know what flow is on but seems good.
From the numbers in each it looks like most stayed with the brood and the flyers reoriented to the new hive rather than return next door amout 12 inches away. My original plan was to re-unite the colonies but now not sure whether to just add a new queen to the split and let the original colony get on with it after shaking some more bees into it.
Would welcome your thoughts.... 1st hive has two supers on top QE the 2nd has 2 supers being back filled but with another two weeks of brood to emerge. Both sitting on 14 x 12 bb.
