    no smoke without fire!

    Hi I have my bees at the bottom of my garden and my neighbours have been trimming all their trees ,they have piled it all into a massive heap ready to burn . The smoke from this will go straight to my hive , how will this effect my bees ? do I need to worry:eek:

    should the mouse guard be removed now

    My bees seem to have survived their first winter with me :hurray: {so far so good} ;) Is it ok to take the mouse guard off now? They were out today and it was so nice to see them on the crocus and garden heather :)

    wild comb

    My feeder is in a super above the brood box so I have left the crown board open for them to get to the syrup, they are building comb up, what should I do ? any advise greatly appreciated

    new feeder to save my bees

    I was using a feeder that I was given, { see piccie I know its old but thought it would be ok till I get a new one}, I noticed some of my bees were drowning in it and they didn't use it very often. So I made this one , they don't drown and now they are using it alot . What do think?

    an interesting Bee

    I have been fascinated today by one single bee in a hole on a my fence post , the bee was carrying leaves bigger than its self and has totally blocked off the hole, could it have been a mortar bee that has laid eggs in the hole?

    Home made suit

    Hi All, My wife made this suit for me what do you think? hope it will be ok. Its made from callico {an unbleached cotton} she is going to put some pockets on when I decide how many and shape/size I need. Elasticated legs and sleeve , the hood is zipped all the way round.
