If you want some i have loads of the bloody stuff..;)

Haha where do we meet? In fact, I need 4 of those base jacks you use for your hive stands. Can't find anyone local who has any!

Just bought some honey off Beefriendly yesterday. Nice stuff! Hopefully my bees will get their act together soon, feels weird having bees yet buying honey :laughing-smiley-014

Base jacks are a crazy price off flebay. I got mine from a local scaffold retailer.

A batch of 60 x 8oz jars for one of my clients.
This is the second of 3 extractions. I extract and jar and get 50% of the crop. I don't know what she's going to do with all the honey!!!

This batch has turned out lovely..the main forage at the moment is thistle and phacelia with bramble further afield.

I like how simple and effective the label is :) I’m only selling to friends of friends and family and this the sort of label I’d like

You need to be careful .. the key word is SELLING .. as soon as you SELL honey to anyone you need to have legal labels. Giving it away .. you can do as you like but the minute you take any money for it .. you have to comply.

It may be friends or family at present but you have to be aware that if something went awry with the relationship anything can happen. This is not sky falling in talk it's a risk you need to avoid.

There are a number of extensive threads on honey labelling on here with some very informative posts ..

PS: Just looked at Millets label on his jars ... not legal if he's selling it. I think you are allowed to have a second label that includes the mandatory details but it makes more sense to put it all on the one.

PPS: If you are selling though a third party (such as a shop) you also need a batch number that will allow traceability.

I'm afraid that isn't true Parglye. If you sell to a middleman who then sells in on to another retailer you do need to comply with the detailed honey selling legislation. If you are selling from a market stall, your gate or local shop or whatever all it needs is a label saying honey and a weight.
It's all about trace-ability if they buy from you/local shop etc they can trace it back to you etc.
That said; trading standard prefer it if you follow the recommendations.

My understanding and the interpretation applied by our local Trading Standards of the honey labelling regs is that it covers all sales of pre packed honey. Quote : "This advice applies to all sales of honey to consumers and food businesses." If you could direct me to the place in the regs where farm gate sales are exempt then I will argue the toss with the TSA... I got picked on at a local event selling my honey with a label that only included my postcode... Just told that it was not in accordance and to change it ... very reasonable but would you risk selling honey without a legal label ?

The bloke on the next stall was selling pickled onions in clearly second hand jars with no label whatsoever... apparently there is no regs covering their sale and construed as foodstuff is exempt? TSA not interested but I'm not sure that public health would feel the same !
