If I guess correctly do I get them as a prize?

Its what its worth to me after inspection and the bees are found to be sound. Not really interested in the hive so didnt add any value for that but guess its worth £50.
My value was based on the price of an overwintered nuc but with unknown provenance.

Everyone will have their own idea of value.

Advertise it for £250 and it will probably sell.

good luck

I would think you can find a new beekeeper who would be happy to pay £225.00

Last year an inspected nucleus in a plywood box was about £180. In a travelling box it was about £150.
The equipment listed would retail at £200.
So, if everything was sound, somewhere in the £200 to £250 range would sound sensible.
Depends how quickly you want to sell and how eager the buyer.

Many associations have spring auctions. You could risk letting the market dictate.
Beverley Beekeepers Auction realised very high prices last year as it was early. York beekeepers later auction had much lower prices.

If you look at the bees for sale, a full size colony ranges from £240 -£300 so I would be very surprised if you couldn't get £200+. Personally I would rather keep any colony than sell for less.

It is quite unfortunate circumstances. I moved them to a community garden full of really nice people. They are newbies wanting to get into beekeeping and wanted bees for pollination so I was going to let them help with inspections and learn together. Unfortunately a family member has become ill causing me to leave uni and the area so I have offered to sell them the hive. If they don't want it I'll be bringing it home. That means they will be looking for someone else to put bees there and helping them learn. The garden is in Wirksworth near Derby and Matlock. If anyone is interested I will forward your details to them.
