I'm planning, next spring, to sow a fair chunk of land with wild flowers that bees will find attractive. I'll need about a kilo of seed (I'm after 100% flower, not grass meadow). Most of the commercial suppliers charge £100 plus for this quantity. Anyone know where I can source seed at a more attractive price?

8 and 3 nucs...it's swarm time...
It's all very expensive and the germination rate is pretty dire. I put 2 kilos into the field when we planted the sainfoin, all I can say is that we are running at about £5 a poppy so far.

After going the wild flower route in the past and assuming that you are wanting honey bee fodder...

...it might be better (as stands of one species are more popular with bees..."worth the effort") to plant say a stand of white dead nettle, a stand of clary sage, a stand of borage etc etc in clumps and then let them self seed.

Germination of the mixes is indeed not good.
