Why not use the scoops that come with the varrox and take a supply of crystals in a screw top jar? Simpler and easier perhaps than secondary manipulations to charge the instrument.

Although the scoops being very hit and miss is no big deal, how is taking a large jar of OA up to the apiary, unscrewing it, mesuring out a scoop of crystals with the fiddle of maybe the wind or whatever blowing some away,or the whole jar falling, then closing the jar ad nauseum for every hive any easier or more convenient than spending quarter of an hour charging up a couple of dozen or more one shot pots of OA in readiness for whenever you need them in the comfort of your own home, unscrewing them at the apiary, quick couple of seconds and the dose is in the bowl and tamped down - no worries with the wind (or even rain) empty pot goes in your pocket and can be sorted out later?

I got mine from Icko Apiculture. Never seen it for sale in the UK. 50 seconds or less per colony. No need to open the colony. No need for homemade underfloor trays or to slide it in through the entrance. No issues using it on poly hives.

You will need an inverter or a generator. I was recommended to get the latter and haven't regretted it.

Thanks for that. The Icko site even has an English version.
The sublimox ticks a lot of boxes for me in terms of ease and quickness of use. Any idea of reliability or spare part issues? It's not going to be industrial usage at my end.
Dumb question, but the big red box with dials on top! Temperature control? Duration?

They are high temperature resistant ptfe type cups that hold the measure of oxalic acid, and fit with the help of an O ring into the top of the vaporizer, 2g takes 30 seconds to sublimate into hive.

Save Time

Our Vaporizer treats up to 300 hives an hour.

300/hour ... 12 seconds per hive ... I don't doubt they can treat 1 hive in 12s but I'd be gobsmacked if they could do 300 an hour.

Does sound a bit exaggerated doesn't it, be interesting to see one live in action.

Big old box to hold a couple of cups! Does the box serve any other function....a seat to sit on?

Everything fits in the box, vaporizer, caps, measure, lead, tray in the top for whatever else you want to carry, spare 0 rings, tub with oxalic acid, prickers, adaptors, etc. It is supplied from new and arrives in the box.

Everything fits into the box with the red lid. The Sublimox, gloves, goggles and mask, plastic 'cups', extension lead and a 500g tub of oxalic acid. Oh yes, and a long thin strip of foam if needed to seal up certain entrances and a block of wood with a hole in the middle to use to treat poly nucs.

It's like the Tardis :)

Ta. Just goes to show how initial impressions can be deceptive. I thought it was the electronics.

Ta, as well. Seems like a no brainer.
