Where to buy cedar?

In view of the interest shown in my cedar and having had chance to think about why I am getting a different price range to most of you there are a few points I feel I should make.

1. I didn't go to any of the "DIY Sheds" I went to my local saw mill.

2. The cutting list was a "wood to cover" cutting list i.e. they could supply me the wood in what ever size they had to allow me to get what I wanted from it e.g. a 4 foot by 6" board and a 5 foot by 6" board to make the 44" x 12" side. As it happened they didn't most of the wood only needed cut to length.

3. The wood was not PAR nut rough sawn which is OK for the design I was using.

4. The only wood where the size was really critical was the top bars and they were bought over size and machined by us.

5. The roof being covered is exterior ply.

Hope this helps. I will be away from a few minutes time basically until Monday so sorry if I don't reply to any queries.

What about asking Thorn*s or Pay*es where they get theres? Know its abit cheaky but it cannot hurt.

They will probably say that they import it but it is worth ago. Ask them for their agents name!! Lol.

On a sale day at Thornes old place there was often some parking down the road to their bulk timber yard. You had to turn round in the timber yard itself so I had a look around!

While most was stacked under cover or without any makings, there was a also some partially shrunk wrapped / strapped it all appeared to be from Canada. Massive loads rough sawn maybe 15 inch or more wide planks 3 inches thick and 20ft long.

Hi all I have been trying unsucessfully to buy some cedar over the last week or so. I want to make 2 new hives and some supers. I am in the South East of Northern Ireland. I have tried six different timber merchants and none of them know where to get it. Does anyone know where I can get it?
