Bramble starting to flower and some white clover is in my lawn, so fingers crossed for a bit more warmth and we could be going places..

This tree is flowering in our back garden and there's quite a few Bumbles on it and a few of my bees (although it could be trespassing bees from a few streets away). Anyone know what it is and whether it's any good as forage?

Looks like a catoneaster to me and yes, they give a welcome bit of forage during the June gap.

Blackberry, wild rose and elder starting to flower now and honey suckle. Hb looking a bit poor this year.

Elderflower wine made with a champagne yeast is my favourite hedgerow tipple.
Father use to make lots of it for when we were shearing sheep, he never use to add yeast though, he use to let it ferment with the natural yeasts.. It wasn't very strong but by the end of the day and several litres later you definitely felt it.

Is this any good for the bee's common comfrey.

Great crested newt. Rare these days and protected. Nice to see it.
There's been lots of frogs here to, I'm working in the sticks and there's untutched fields behind the property.
We put the newt out of harms way away from the digger, as we are starting a new project today for four weeks.

I was surprised how big the newt was.
Thanks viridens.

I have not noticed my neighbourhood's two large Black Locust trees in bloom this year. Just googled that the flowers appear after the leaves have formed. Still hope then?
