Cut all the sides of six 14"x12" sides to length after putting them all through the thicknesses (oh why did we get them 25mm thick when they needed to be finished at 20mm). Cut the groves in all the sides and started to cut the tenons, one complete another 5 to go.

Eventually finished doing all the electrical bits on my warming cabinet, only .1 degree difference between top and bottom so I'm happy with that.

Just remembered I don't need an easel, my daughter has a iPad with a new paint/design pressure sensitive stylus. had a play with it Boxing day and quite an amazing bit of kit........if you like painting and that sort of thing

Today this clever little soldier put all his loose flat packed frames and foundation together, and then exceeded himself in finishing a homemade 6 frame Nucleus complete with a eke on top that can take this years empty pickled onion jars for contact feeders.

I have to go now to sort qe ( clean, disinfect and store). Since temp is freezing ( around zero, little below) and I don't have even door at my "workshop", I feel reluctant to sort it.. :D

Started to assemble the six 14x12 brood boxes I have been making, its surprising how long it takes when you glue the joints, three down and three to go, then I'll treat them all.

I made up 20 brood frames this morning and now husband has them to "wire" with fishing line, then I'll put in some starter strips.

I'm going to try a couple of colonies with no foundation.
When I AS or catch a swarm I'll have a go at putting in alternate frames.

Must admit I've toyed with the idea. Is this a 'feel like doing something different this year' moment?

Checked the last coat on a swienty brood box, this is a subdued dark oak and looks very nice. With luck, this is destined for a very nice apiary site.

I'm going to make a few wooden nuc boxes redundant this year (to heavy) so I might try putting one in a corner of the apiary with starter strips on all frames and introduce a swarm of bees and see how they get on, swarms are always eager to build comb so that may be a good combination. Mm that reminds me I need to do a Baileys this year.

Just keep an eye if using foundation less with a swarm as they wont always draw it straight.
