try certan/b401 as it is a biological agent targeting just on the wax moth

Caveat: It targets wax moth larvae and once food source gone they die out, so not effective on later outbreaks!

Fed a gallon of syrup to each of 23 colonies. While I was there I noticed a wasp hovering near the entrance of one hive and then heard a sound like an helicopter and saw a hornet (european) snatch the wasp out of the air with its legs and swiftly carry it off. I was amazed at how well it did this. Will take my camera with me next time and hopefully get a video clip of it but unlikely as I have not seen this happen in the past.

I like it, one predator of bees eating the other. They grab the bees out of the air just as swiftly.

Not today and some 550km away, I forgot on this. Pic of some old long hives I saw, not in use.
Anyway we still struggle with rains, waiting for Noah to pass by..

Made up a Nuc yesterday to put one of my late mated Peter Stofön F1 queens, I introduced her today so hope all goes well, pop a feeder on to help them on their way.

Popped 2nd trays of apiguard in. First trays all tsken but one hive had about 20 dead bees in the tray..also topped up feeding 2:1 with hivemakers thymol recipe in it. My bees are taking it down regardless of apiguard tainting the smell of the hives.

Brought more heather honey in supers and more bees back from one site. Going back this afternoon to remove last of bees on another. It's a cold rainy day so ideal, all are indoors keeping warm.

Does anyone have a wholesale price for cut-comb in plastic tubs (100x around 8oz in weight)?

Just changed apilife var on my three collonys at home ,
Third week now .
Hive 1 50+
Hive 2 80/100
Hive 3 100+
There's been single figures untill this last week.
Hive 3 has had 10 kgs of sugar and now It weighs 46kgs
The other two haven't and they feel like there nailed to the floor.
Lots of gorse pollen coming in . Temp very good .
I had a quick look all looks good bias . Only looked in the Half's!

Yesterday pic. I declared to decrease and ended up with slight increase, too many colonies and less and less time available.. bad beekeeping - maybe time to quit..

Have sent you a PM beefriendly

Thanks for that Pete.
The problem I'm getting is they only want to pay about £2 above bulk honey price. So 2 x 8oz combs for £6 .
Mind tight barstwerads round us.
I sell mine for £6 but that is direct, not via a honey packer,

Reduce by sale of surplus colonies ?
Reduce your work load and increase your bank balance [emoji6]

I had such cunning plan, but away.. no one want to buy bees.. People are leaving from Croatia in waves ( whole families), as same people are leaving beekeeping. I must admit I am myself shaken and worried, not to mention a lot say to me that I am not that stupid to stay and strike with head to the wall.. So far I am still pushing myself and repeat not yet, not yet..
But no more about grim stuff. Bees are calm these days, no smoke required, hornets are pressing them pretty hard, wasps are mostly lurking around entrances, not few I found below hives ( also couple hornets I find).
Some of the last queens hatched, now awaiting to see..
We had no rain for a few days.. that is relief and success..
I am the most of time occupied with hazelnuts, hoping to finish it till next weekend..

Vaped the full hives for the third time and checked the inspection trays on the paynes poly nucs.. lots of varroa dropping on all three nucs after the second vape..
On a good note the nucs are piling balsam nectar/pollen in and some other yellow source of pollen..

Went walkabout and fed my hives their third and final syrup feed this am. It's turning into a nice day and the bee's are flying.

Checked bees yesterday as I've been feeding all week. They have now loads of stores and still taking in loads of pollen. Stopped feeds now for a bit as ivy out in full flow and want to leave queens space to keep laying. All 4 are laying strongly still.
