check on hives and fed some ,check on wasp predation of hives that got clobbered, one hive down to tree or four frames and likely to be wiped out, so broke down to a nuc and took home that was about fifteen days ago, there was a queen in there other wise would not be worth taking home, now walking passed today seen what I thought was a queen running in with remnants from her rear, was going to take tomorrow but now I have got to go in and check there is not a new queen, from where its not been enough time for new queen unless virgin from some where got lost and decided to take residence, more time wasting trying to keep this nuc going.

Met a lady at our Assoc Apiary who had used MAQs and now has no queen and 10-12 QCs. Visited and inspected Sunday : marked Q in one hive - not laying due to drought - fed syrup. laid out timetable for other hive QCs - for Q to emerge and start laying by or we will have to requeen or lose hive. (Not many drones left round here for a virgin to mate).

Inspected 3 WBCs Friday belonging to a couple .. wonderfully calm VERY black bees. marked Qs in two hives which they had been unable to find , could not find Q in other (lots of bees). Set them up to apply Apiguard Saturday.. Need to feed all hives - few stores due to drought . V little HB there.

Sold Lang nuc to a flow hive owner (Chinese copy). Amended his Lang bbox to jumbo so it could take frames - which is the format of all my hives and nucs.
Sold 2 Qs to someone who had lost two out of 4 (one drowned in feeder).

Helped give taster session Sat pm to aspiring beekeepers.

Bit tired of beekeeping..:)

Wax moth is being a nightmare this year. Treated all mine with acetic acid. 2 weeks later restacked as sealed units of 5 high supers. A week later evidence of blasted wax moth again!! What do you all do.. is there anything better than the acid. I am freezing some frames now where I feel still a lurking larvae that I cannot see.

Made a start on bringing hives and supers back from the moors. Flow has finished now, hives have gained no weight in the last 10 days. Been much cooler on the tops and few bees flying. We were able to brush clear and take hives as the bees were so docile they just went back inside.
Yield per hive will be down on last two years...but as I took more hives this year...I should be fine.

and what did I do in the apiary... collected a swarm from an apple tree. 4 doors away but not my bees as had no swarms from my colonies this year.
Been there 2 months(ish). 4 layers of comb. Now safely hived in a deep Nuc. Very hungry bees.

Just vaped three Paynes Poly nucs..first one went ok the second one took forever so i pulled the pan out.. half of the product had gone the rest had set solid..i thought ***** as they needed doing and it would take days to order a new gasser .. heater plug failure sprung to mind.. on looking at the heater plug i noticed the nut holding the power lead had come slightly loose.. tightened it up and all was good to go.. all three done for the second time and while closed up i could see loads of Balsam nectar and pollen coming in..

Vaped all 4 hives for the 2nd time of the 4 I plan to do.... 1 hive has decided it's time to kick out their drones today... fascinating watching them trying to get back in with no success.

Also feeding going well but will need to get some bigger feeders for next year the 4 pint ones I'm filling every night. Good job hives are at home.

Fed a gallon of syrup to each of 23 colonies. While I was there I noticed a wasp hovering near the entrance of one hive and then heard a sound like an helicopter and saw a hornet (european) snatch the wasp out of the air with its legs and swiftly carry it off. I was amazed at how well it did this. Will take my camera with me next time and hopefully get a video clip of it but unlikely as I have not seen this happen in the past.

How do you move all that syrup about masterbk there would be some weight in all that liquid. 100 litre container of some sort?
I'm guessing a strong stick over your shoulders with buckets either side
To paint a picture lol.

try certan/b401 as it is a biological agent targeting just on the wax moth
