Still feeding syrup but loads of pollen going in today despite the wind, spent time watching the poor little bees trying not to get blown away. Hive beginning to feel heavier at last

Bliss

Spent a wonderful few hours at my Golf course apiary. Staked down the hives hefted heavy enough for Winter and put fondant on those a little less obvious. Staked those down as well. Apiary now all ship shape and Bristol fashion. Oxalic in Dec is the next outdoors event for those ladies. Other 2 apiaries to get the same treatment next week.

:winner1st:

Sat and watch the girlies bringing in loads of pollen.

Last of syrup on and mouseguards on. Put Apistan on one colony that still shows signs of varroa despite being treated with thymol.

Took some microscope photos of the frame removed from a merge yesterday! I knew I'd seen eggs! :)

We did muse over the dodgy looking holes in a few pollen cells for a while before someone worked out that was the holes made by the crown of thorns!

Oh and stood and watched the bees on the ivy!

took feeder out of nuc ot stung 3 times had to move away from it becouse didnt smoke

Oh and my mum and little sister saw more bees than I did today!

Top Barn farm at Holt Heath had someone with an observation hive today!

Took the feeders off watched them bringing in loads of pollen heft the hives and all is OK for now, I can't believe the weather is so warm this time of year :nature-smiley-016:

i need to  cose i have done Naf all, all weekend been foggy and raining here.

Mind you i have got my honey ready for the trip to weybridge.

Took some feeders off. Put more mouseguards on. Quickly moved a colony out of an unpainted Fragile Planet Brood Box and into cedar for the Winter. Scorched and painted FP box. Scorched entrance blocks.

flooded apiary was fine :ohthedrama: all seems well, a few hives a bit slow in taking food but have given all nucs 3kg of fondant as a half term pressie. Hives are a mixed bunch but moving in the right direction. some certainly superceeding......going to be a difficult winter.

made up a couple of gallons of syrup on our newly commissioned wood burning stove (weren't quite expecting the kitchen to end up looking quite as much as the footplate of a steam loco but there you go, at least house is warm without burning gas).

Fed bees in out apiary.

Doing a lot of gardening work near to the hive at the moment. Beautiful weather over the weekend.

The chainsawing and woodchipping didnt bother the bees at all - they were too busy going mad for pollen. Bright yellow stuff - not sure what type. I went for a drive around all the ivy I know in the area and no flowers were opened yet so can't be that.

They are not touching the thymolated syrup but look to have a lot of stores.

I have scorched and repainted a BB. I've repainted it with different coloured poppies on each side in the hope that it might be easier to find a new site for attractive boxes than normal ones.
