Been to Friers Pride in Peterborough to get some more bakers fondant stock for over winter if required... price has gone down to £11.42 for a 12.5kg box...

That is a fantastic price for 12.5kg.

Best I can get it for is £16.80 delivered.

£7.50 from my local cake shop, just popped in on the of chance as my supplier has stopped doing fondant.
ps 12.5 kilos

They would be if you have only been vaping them at seven day intervals.

Sorry for the double Quote.. the said hive had half a frame of eggs and brood put in as a test frame months ago..that failed and i had a drone layer which i splatted.. a new Queen was introduced but the half drawn frame was left in the hive... the bees have filled one half of the frame with worker cells and the other half Drone cells.. that maybe why i have lots of drones and the varroa problem..
As for seven day vapes i work.. and travel 65 miles to my bees every weekend.

You seem to have missed the point - sublimating seven days apart means that mites can emerge, remain in the phoretic stage then duck back into a cell to reproduce before the next vaping - thus you will have a larger surviving population of varroa post sublimation, which means that population increase will happen sooner.

I have not missed the point.. i know five days apart is ideal but i can not do that .. however the colonies have got through winter just fine with what i can manage over the past few years..what happened to the Oxalc Acid staying active in the hive for several days after gassing.. is this a myth. ? .

Getting ready for the chair of our association to come and look at my black amms, to see if the stock will be any good for next year's breeding program.. these collonys are from the black mountians.
And 1 of the collonys that I moved two seasons ago hadn't had an inspection since 2007/8 by my grandads records . There will be 3 other association members there all local beeks, who have apairy sites near me .
I hope my hives are up to standard and the garden .

If I was in your predicament of not being able to get to the hives I would put Apivar strips in them all and return in six weeks to remove them.
Just a thought.

I don't like risking damaging the Queen D.. i used a thymol treatment with my first bees and after seeing the dead brood on the inspection tray it made my mind up to switch over to OA vaporizing..
I have got through the past winters doing the treatments seven days apart in Autumn and i am yet to loose a colony to varroa or anything for that matter..
Thank you for the suggestion though...;)

It’s Amitraz
No queen issues
I bought some for one hive last year, sold one strip and not wanting to waste them I put three on colonies this autumn

1 vape left to do and onto the second 25L batch of thymol syrup. Colonies seem to be in good shape for winter but are packing the syrup away.

Had a little read up on them and i may well give them a try.. are they outside temperature dependent or does it not matter what time of the year you use them.. also do i need a Vet prescription for them.

Nah, now freely available.
Comes down to expense...cost me as nearly as much as a sublimox to treat my hives with Apivar...down side is 4x vapes with sublimox takes time (but it's mine and it's free).
I have my furthest apiary on Apivar as diesel to 4x vape would cost nearly as much as 10 strips...

Vaped hives, fed all three. Cleaned extractor and empty honey buckets, tidied up empty supers and wet frames in storage and had a beer whilst listening to Deep Purple.
Bees all very busy, lots of yellow pollen going in, wasps still a nuisance, so recharged traps.
