I got stung on the eye brow last weekend, didn't hurt at all and was not itchy. When I went to bed was all ok.... got up following morning still didn't hurt but eye was closed right up....

Cold and a little windy here today (10-12 degrees) bees still out bringing in loads of pollen.... hard-core bees here....lll

Done the last vape on all but one colony after feeding them all 2:1 thymol syrup.. one hive is not taking the syrup down from last week and has dead wasps drowned in the rapid feeder... so much for these under floor entrances..:spy: ...the said hive has plenty of bees so god knows what is happening..

Thought you posted earlier that you weren't seeing any spontaneous mite drop this year so was thinking of not treating?
Did you get much of a drop after OAV?

I can not remember saying that Eye ball man.. however i do think on my feet at times and may have vaped them to be on the safe side.. i will treat regardless of what i see on the inspection tray during the first three treatments... regarding the drop on the tray's it has been up and down but from today's tray inspection the mite count is rather low.. i have two Nuc to full hives that need more gassing and then that is me done for the year with a 12V battery..

24.5 degrees today here in sunny South lincs..... decided against opening up the hives after another thread I started... Bees all over the ivy bringing in pollen and hopefully nectar. Topped up the feeders and when there done taking the syrup I'm strapping them down and done for the winter...

Still undecided weather or not to put a slab of fondant straight on top of frames or above crown board for insurance...

Had a good result today..... found a nice piece of land of about 1/4 acre trees and hedges on 3 sides last week. Emailed farmer and he says I can use for a few jars of honey each year.

A good result indeed, always nice to find new sites, especially when they turn out to be good productive ones.

May I ask how you found out the email address of the farmer? Most farmers around here probably think that e-mail is a guy from the mid east!

Yes indeed... look to be allot around it for the bees. Middle of the countryside lots of woods and overgrown areas around. Not looking to expand with too many more hives as it's my first year but as allot say on here always good to have a place to take stropy hives if needed.

The farmer in question is a young local guy who bought the farm a few years back and when I looked up the farm name on tinternet it came up with the details and the company email address....

Combined q- hive and nuc this morning, all went well....I hope. Also checked out a new site in an orchard for next year to add to my growing number of pedigree Native locally adapted Buckfast bee reserves:)

Been to Friers Pride in Peterborough to get some more bakers fondant stock for over winter if required... price has gone down to £11.42 for a 12.5kg box...

I have some unopened apifonda from last year .

Fed another 24 litres of thymol syrup..on the hive not taking the feed i pulled the cone of the feeder to dribble syrup down and spotted a bee with a varroa mite on its thorax (5 vapes later) and they are still there ? ..gassed the little suckers again.
After that i also noticed lots of drones flying from the same problem hive..alarm bells where ringing that my bought in Queen was a drone layer.
I cracked the hive open ready to cull the Queen and unite and lone behold loads of capped worker brood and larvae..the colony is small from supposedly good Queens but i will see how they get on after winter.
